São Paulo’s CPTM to modernise traction power supply

PAULISTA Metropolitan Trains Company (CPTM) has awarded three contracts to upgrade the traction power supply system covering the six-line 284km São Paulo commuter rail network.

The work is due to be completed by 2015 and includes modernising or replacing substations, cables, feeder stations, transformers, switchgear and rectifiers.
The contract for lot 1 covering lines 7 and 10 and lot 3 for lines 11 and 12 was awarded to a consortium of Siemens and MPE. The lot 1 contract is worth Reais 117.5m ($US 58m) and lot 3 Reais 106m. The lot 2 contract for lines 8 and 9 went to the ABB-Rodominas consortium for Reais 164.3m.
